Dear Friends,
I have been working on this behind the scenes for months, and I'm so excited to finally share it with you!
In honor of America’s 250th birthday, Block Party USA, my tool to help families and our nation, is launching American Summer — a nationwide call to revive the forgotten tradition of neighborhood block parties, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, with a special focus on July 3rd, 4th, and America’s Potluck on July 5th.
Our goal is to, at least, have 250 block parties in every state across the country and Washington, D.C. My dream, honestly, would be for there to be 250 block parties in every city or town.
Why is this so important to me?
Because I truly believe America needs a reset, and the change we need won’t come from the U.S. Capital or our state capitals, nor from watching the news, nor going toe-to-toe on social media. Gathering with our neighbors face-to-face and talking person-to-person is the way forward both for our own well-being and our country.
Parents are stressed and burnt out. Block parties create a network of support. We say raising kids “takes a village,” and block parties help build that village.
If we want to keep our kids off of tech and restore a play-based childhood, we need to meet the families in our neighborhood so that we can bring back neighborhood free play. Knowing your neighbors is a protective factor for families and increases their resiliency.
Block Party USA’s American Summer initiative makes it easy for anyone to bring a block party to their neighborhood and/or organization to inspire others to do the same.
We’ve created free toolkits for both individuals and for organizations, towns, nonprofits, and HOA’s who are looking to bring connection, belonging, and support to the people they serve. Truly, I want to make this as easy as possible for everyone who wants to bring a block party to life in their neighborhood.
You can be the well-being catalyst in your neighborhood. You have the power to make the change that your family, neighborhood, and town need.

Here for you and with you.
